I leave the Army in March with $65,000 in my TSP. What happens to it?

TSP after separation

Nothing has to happen to it. After you separate, your TSP stays open in the same funds and keeps growing. What stops is new contributions and the match, because those come through military pay [1].

You can leave it there, or move it to a new employer's plan or an IRA. Done as a direct transfer, the move itself isn't taxed [1].
